An estimated 5000 people in the rural community of Kulakdhani (Gasi) and surrounding environments in Shani Local government of Borno State, Nigeria will gain access for the first time to basic primary health care since the inception of the community. For over a century, the people have been living without basic health care leading to avoidable deaths and high mortality rate amongst women and children in particular. This problem was identified following a need assessment survey conducted by MOLDEV in the locality.
At the end of this project, over 5000 residents of the community and surrounding will no longer travel long distance to access the basic primary health care services and clean drinking water thereby improving their productivity and wellbeing as an agrarian community.
